Ring-necked duck near Torphichen. Each year, it appears somewhere in West Lothian after hard weather so I took a punt on today being the day. I’d love to know where it goes after the thaw. Birding Lothian
Other than a snowy backdrop, this (always quite distant) Grey Phalarope was the only evidence of Storm Bert’s passing at Musselburgh this afternoon. Birding Lothian
24 Nov. Musselburgh. 5 Little Auks, 1 Red-necked Grebe and one of the fine male Long-tailed Ducks briefly came in close Birding Lothian
Lovely morning at Musselburgh. Nice to see Ian Andrews and Tom Gale. Highlights being a Jack Snipe on the new lagoons early morning, Red-necked Grebe, Mediterranean Gull, Little Auks and this lovely Long-tailed Duck! Phone scoping not at its best today! Birding Lothian
3 Little Auk on the sea off Fisherrow this afternoon were only my second record from the flat window. Also 13 Twite along the seawall Birding Lothian
Great to find this White-rumped Sandpiper feeding among the wrack on Whitesands beach, E Lothian this afternoon. A lovely, active wader. Fortunately I managed some record shots through my scope, though with a decent camera would've got some nice rump flight shots! Birding Lothian

There will be better to come I'm sure given how well the White-rumped Sandpiper showed at White Sands this afternoon. Earlier, 1 Little Auk, 1 Black-throated Diver, 2 Great Northerns and 2 Red-necked Grebes off Scoughall with colin davison . Birding Lothian
A 1w Grey Phalarope waddling around with the regular waders at Cramond this afternoon! Birding Lothian
