Product design didn’t become strategic. It became safe. The job isn’t to invent behaviour anymore. It’s to avoid blame.

Design used to challenge systems. Now it manages risk. Process replaced judgement. Alignment replaced conviction. Shipping replaced meaning. Everything ships. Nothing moves.

This isn’t maturity. It’s embalming. Product design didn’t die. It was made harmless.

Beige advice is what happens when people flatten complex systems into tidy soundbites, then stand on them morally. It’s not wisdom. It’s comfort disguised as clarity.
