Upper-level winds continue to separate the low-level circulation of Tropical Depression Two from its healthiest thunderstorms. This system may yet ping weak tropical storm status (Arlene) a time or two Friday. Or, just the same, it could remain a fledgling tropical depression.

Nonzero shower / storm chances return to your First Alert three-day forecast. The percentages suggest rain is not a "slam dunk", but it's worth a finger-cross if your garden's getting a little thirsty. A toasty Weather Alert Wednesday weather radio programming event in Southport!

Muggy, summery gusty breezes will help whip up a chance for strong to severe storms Monday. With hit or miss storm coverage, a First Alert Action Day is not in place. All the same, with one or two strong outcomes possible, a good day to keep your WECT Weather App handy...

After lower storm odds Tuesday (1 in 10), they're indeed back higher this Wednesday (1 in 2). The Cape Fear Region is on the northern / marginal end of a very impressive severe risk envelope (level three / four from Hilton Head Island and many points west!).

Back on Carolina in the Morning this Friday in time to track the latest round of storms! Keep an eye out and see you on the tube!

Though odds favor plenty of storm-free (and hot!) hours this weekend, energy for what storm cells do form will not be lacking. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has broad-brushed the Cape Fear Region in a level two risk zone to account for the situation.

Peek at your daytime storm chance this sizzling hot Monday and you see a very innocuous looking 10%. After sunset, though, please note a spike in storm odds. Thanks for keeping an eye to the western sky / your WECT Weather App as a couple of these cells / segments may by strong.

Moderate to heavy and generally manageable rain impacts through early Saturday... Totals will average lower than with Idalia a few weeks ago.

For Wilmington: 43 makes this morning the chilliest so far in fall (44, October 9). Isolated pockets of frosty middle 30s are mixing on the mainland. With a big warming trend on the way, the vast majority of the Lower Cape Fear Region will avoid frost until November.

Chewy's "all ears" for a still blustery but much drier forecast for Wednesday. Hopefully you and your fur babies did okay in Tuesday's storms!

Traffic continues to build but at least the weather's nice. Expect crystal clear skies, light breezes, and just a touch of frost in spots with temps in the 30s as you get started.
