Braking for a flame thrower was the right decision, maybe life-saving

#MountainFire: Spot fire in Balcom Canyon is 1,000 acres on the east side of the canyon, no aircraft available for that area. The fire is spreading house to house in the Camarillo area.

Heading into mid-November and my garden is going strong. Anyone else? Will it last until Thanksgiving? Pretty rare for suburbs outside of NYC.

This is the area in Prospect Park Brooklyn that appears to be on fire.

A fire grew significantly overnight on the NY/NJ border.  The NW flow behind last nights cold front is pointing the smoke plume right at NYC.  Air quality is into the orange (unhealthy for a few locations)

.@NJDEPForestFire extends condolences to our counterparts at the NY State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation Department following the tragic line-of-duty loss of one of their team members battling the Jennings Creek Fire burning in Passaic County NJ & Orange County NY.

Next Week: Tropical trouble and a deep Central Plains trough. It is best if they remain separate entities unlike what happened with Hurricane Helene when the trough/cutoff absorbed the hurricane.

Just another day with a brush fire 🔥 in NYC. This time at the northern tip of Manhattan. Smoke blowing across the Bronx and into Queens.

La Ceiba, on the Caribbean coast of #Honduras, 556 millimeters (~22 inches) of rain in 24 hours ending this morning at 7 AM EST from Tropical Storm #Sara (via Jeff Masters Michael Lowry, video from meteorologist Francisco Argeñal). More rain to come.
