Get going, people.

Your opening pages have to do a lot of heavy lifting. They must entice the reader to commit hours to reading your book, & if you’re querying, they need to hook agents enough to request the full MS. Here are 3 elements your novel opening needs to do just that (a 🧵):

Not everyone who reads your story is going to connect w/ it, & that’s ok. Focus on writing for YOUR audience—the people who will understand your work & feel moved by it. Your story isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but it will be someone's favorite cup of tea.
