“This dungeon sucks… I’m hungry!…”

“All the family’s going to Bowser’s coronation except me! So unfair…. HEY! I’M STARVED DOWN HERE! THIS DUNGEON’S DINGEY! Ugh..”

“Oh hey. Ya know what, ya have my good looked when you’re not on the verge of dying.” Basker got up and pressed his belly to the bars to get closer. “You’re brother tried to kill ya too but he’s going.”

“YOUR LOOKS COME FROM ME! I’m like your great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather. You get the gist.” Basker snorted and glared at his ancestor. “..Say. You got anything in your shell I can snack on? Your guards ain’t feeding me.”

“Why ya so mad? You’re alive ain’t ya? You’d kill me too if I weren’t unkillable. And for the hundredth time! I ain’t able to change my physical body! This is the way I am so get us.”

“Boring… Bored… What a bore… How many ways can you say bored?.. This is boringness?… This bores me….. ….. Can’t think of anymore..”

Basker grumbled as he looked up to the voice. It was familiar and sorta nice to hear by this point. “I dunno why you risk coming here if all it’s for is to watch my spirits plummet on the daily. What was it you said? I’m not your friend?” Basker sighed. Miserable day today.

“How’ve I found someone older than me?… I can’t even have that anymore.”

“Joke’s on you. I like your company… And before you storm off all moody.. Thanks for visiting.”

“How does paying you a compliment translate t’that? Oh I get it. You’re trying to deflect it coz ya don’t wanna be told you’re actually a pretty nice guy. Got you figured out.”

“You’re not that different from a koopa ya know.” Basker moved back to the bars after the momentary push back. “Hiding your feelings. Saying it’s everyone else that’s the problem and not owning things. You even come here t’hear it from me because I get you~.”

“….That’s the reason you come here. Coz you wanna open up about your feelings. I’m locked up here seemingly f’ever. You see a connection between us so you’re sussing whether you can use me f’that. I already know what you’re gonna say next. This. ‘You’re wrong. You’re so dumb’.”

He’d never seen a gun before but he had a guess what it could do from Comet’s words. “You know that won’t do anything to me. Just put it away already.”

“….Go ahead then. If it’s make you feel better. Sorta getting used to it anyway. Morton has routinely come down here t’take his anger out on me,”

He was half expecting to blip out of existence for a moment and wake on the floor as per usual but the bat missed on purpose. Cutee~. He didn’t wanna hurt him. He heard the guards coming shorty after and sighed. “Guess you’re outta here?..”

Basker’s body thudded to the ground lifeless then a moment later he groaned and rubbed where he was shot completely healed, not a drop of blood spilled. Those things stung!… When he sat up the guards who looked at him puzzled. Dammit Comet.. How would he explain this?..

“I AIN’T THAT OLD! The first? Who knows how far that goes back. I’m pretty distance though. My time of rulin’ was a long, long time ago.” Basker grumbled as he look at Leo from past the bars of his prison cell. “What’d ya want? You guards ain’t usually this talkative.”

Oooo. A new visitor? Basker gruffed as he lifted his huge, fat frame up and then stomped over, pressed his adipose to the bars of the dungeon cell that still contained him to get a better look at them. "Great Grandpa huh? What can I do ya for?"
