On this day in 1874, the Dresden Council Communist and Pedagogue Otto Rühle was born. A close friend of Karl Liebknecht, he alongside him was one of the only two Reichstag deputies to vote against war credits in 1915. Later he would be involved in the foundation of the AAUE.

Post-mortem photo of August Müller aka Dudo. A tram worker and Council Communist, Dudo was the commander of the Ruhr Red Army and its most famous combat leader. Unfortunately, he was martyred on 1st of April 1920 in Wesel while fighting against the Kapp Putsch and the Freikorps.

Not the only Indian who was close to Council Communism during that period btw. Around 1922, there was a small group of Indians in Berlin led by MPT Acharya who were associated with the KAI and through whom the KAPD established contacts in Mysore and parts of Southern India.

Apparently the KAPD had contacts in Northwest Africa through someone called Ali Baset Salim (also a leader of the KAI), according to the Collection Henk Canne-Meijer at IISG.🫠
