Thank you to the brilliant group from Renaissance Foundation who visited us this afternoon to find out about careers in archives and heritage. We talked about interpretation and then had a go at mixing paints like William Hogarth, thanks to our colleagues at Barts Heritage !

‘The most wonderful memories I have are of the patients I met.’ Gulzar was the first person from South Asia to ever work for Royal Surrey. This #SouthAsianHeritageMonth, we’re celebrating all staff of South Asian heritage, past and present, for their dedication across the NHS.

We were at Homerton Hospital today to discuss a potential new acquisition. Although it's now part of a separate Trust, when it opened it had strong links to St Bartholomew's - reflected in the logo on this plaque of the old City & Hackney Health Authority, & the Bart's shield

#OTD in 1666, the governors of St Bartholomew's Hospital met to discuss 'the Terrible and Unmercifull Fire' which had started the day before. The hospital archives were protected by the governors' order to remove the hospital records to Hornsey for safekeeping! #GreatFireOfLondon

Why have we had this 1820 'poor relief' list for the parish of St Bartholomew the Great out in the #archives? And why do we have it in our collections at all? Find out in the latest issue of our newsletter, available at bartshealth.nhs.uk/barts-health-a…
