25 YEARS AGO today we officially opened CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS in Burbank! We had already moved into the space two months earlier, but May 22nd was our official Grand Opening. We were fortunate to have Mr Barbera join us to christen the building. CHEERS!!

The release of the new PEEWEE documentary reminds me that “Hey Arnold’s “ Craig Bartlett did the PENNY shorts for the show. I’ll always be a claymation fan…Oh and - Don’t Do Drugs!! 😉

From 1983, a test of Paul (PeeWee) Reubens doing ROGER RABBIT. Paul was an incredible voice actor and was frequently in CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS voicing for us. He loved animation.

Memories from my time at DIC…the new logo came to be shortly after I started with the studio. But I’ll always love the Inspector Gadget logo!

More from my days at DIC - here’s the genius of Frank Welker doing the voice of Slimer in THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS (circa 1987). Voice acting has always been an underrated art form IMO.

Another clip from DIC’s REAL GHOSTBUSTERS - this time with Maurice LaMarche and Frank Welker. Watching Welker jump from the character of Ray to Slimer is so fun to see! The seamlessness between the characters is brilliant.

Here’s a throwback to a main title from 50 YEARS ago. Long before my time. The year was 1975 and the series was —RETURN TO THE PLANET OF THE APES. The stories and animation for the series was peak 70s (aka not great) but the main title is so of the era - I love it! Doug Wildey

From 1995 HB’s WHAT A CARTOON! This was a truly wild set of shorts! The range of characters was so broad. But the breakouts were already clear…

This cave drawing scene from Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars, hinting at Anakin’s future downfall, is easily one of the most hauntingly beautiful moments in the entire Star Wars saga.

Here’s a 2005 - ED, EDD & EDDY promotional Plank shirt - maybe a cousin of Ren & Stimpy’s “Log”? Wood IS Good! Have a GOOD weekend!

Another super cool press kit from our PR group. A replica of Ben’s omnitrix for the premiere of ALIEN FORCE - 2008. We never really anticipated how successful the Ben 10 franchise would be. It ended being the longest continuously running production in the studio.

From 1998 - DEXTER’S LAB “Critical Gas”. Dexter eats a big bad burrito and thinks he’s gonna die - but it turns out he just had to fart! I know Genndy loved this episode. Maybe the first kids animated series to feature a FART! 💨
