And that’s a wrap on placement No3. A rollercoaster with so many opportunities and beautiful memories. Leaving with a new friend in the shape of my placement buddy, a new family and place to call home, and a teeny bit more confidence that I can indeed do hard things 💚

Reasons to exclude an article from my literature review… ✔️ not relevant to my population/phenomenon. ✔️ secondary research ✔️ participants in the study are penguins 🐧🤣😲 definitely didn’t anticipate that one!

In the last week I have somehow gotten a job (after thinking I didn’t stand a chance), smashed my dissertation (after being convinced I’d failed it), pushed myself massively out of my comfort zone on placement, and my teeny preemie baby turned 4…. All the emotions today 😱😭😃💚

Back in my dungarees for a spoke day at CAMHS… so much learning on my final placement and so many amazing opportunities for growth. 2 days to go 😱

13 years ago I was in a very different situation, convinced I had nothing to offer the world… today I completed my final placement as a student OT! Special thanks to Matt and Cheryl who deserve medals for putting up with me for 11 weeks. Couldn’t have done it without you 💚🌻💚

Not me over here crocheting a blanket for my little dude’s sadness doll 🙈. He told me it would help make sadness feel happier so I could hardly refuse! Also, any excuse to use rainbow wool 🌈

Things I have done this week: ✅ completed my 1st week as a B5 OT ✅ driven on the motorway for the 1st time in 10 years (& done this twice a day all week) ✅ conquered Simister Island roundabout ✅ dealt with change & things not going to plan without losing the plot ✅ slept!

How to make homework accessible,fun, and meaningful to H… use pink wafers to build an Egyptian pyramid. Obviously they then had to be eaten afterwards 🤣.

I feel so lucky to have some wonderful colleagues who go the extra mile for me. Whether it’s being a lunch time walk buddy, kind messages, words of encouragement/support, or implementing a plan to make something previously inaccessible now accessible for me… I appreciate you 💚

Being 90 mins early for work this morning was worth it to see the pretty sky! Nice wander before training!

My 7yr old has a new fave song. Tonight’s conversation highlights include: “Mummy, what happened to Billy Ocean, was he missing his baby? And mummy, what happened to his heart, did it break? And did it hurt when it broke?” All said whilst bouncing away on his space hopper🤣💙🥰

When you push yourself out of your comfort zone and get lovely feedback for doing so…. Good job I’m getting more comfortable with being uncomfortable 🥰😂

It’s exactly a year since I started my final placement as an OT student. So much has happened in that year, growth, change, a teeny bit more confidence, finding my voice, finding an incredible team of humans who encourage me to be me. Here’s to even more growth 💚
