How does spectral imaging, imaging spectroscopy, or hyperspectral imaging work? Whatever you call it, fmr PasadenaCityCollege and Lunar Trailblazer intern Emily Felder made an awesome explainer video for how Lunar Trailblazer will map water on the Moon with NASA JPL's HM3 instrument!

New paper from Caltech Ehlmann Research Group, Caltech grad student Yu Yu Phua et al shows the hydration state of sulfates in Mars rocks seen by ARCHIVED - NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover. More dehydrated than ARCHIVED - Curiosity Rover rocks (weird), and phases found indicate salty fluids for at least some of the waters in Jezero crater

Thanks to Laura Lee NAU for her work on Lunar Trailblazer ! In addition to her science, Laura is training to be a Campaign Science Lead who will lead targeting of images at the Moon

Congrats to Caltech Ehlmann Research Group, Caltech alum Dr. Ellen Leask on her important findings for Mars history: sulfates connected with basin volcanoes, large ash deposits, late history saline waters -- Terra Sirenum holds an amazing record of Mars climate! Check out the paper 👇

Go ARCHIVED - NASA Europa Clipper and HUGE congrats to the NASA JPL, Johns Hopkins APL, and partner teams! Very excited to be underway to Europa! 🚀🛰️🥳 The Ehlmann Research Group, Caltech is part of the MISE instrument team and we look forward to some beautiful spectra of this ocean world. Ad astra, Clipper!

Meet Lunar Trailblazer, a mission to "inventory" the water on the Moon. Orbiting just 60 miles (100 km) above the lunar surface, the small satellite will map the abundance, location, and form of the Moon's water, a critical resource for future explorers. go.nasa.gov/40p1c66
