The actor Richard Green died 40 years ago today. Appearing in films such as The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939), Yellow Canary (1943) and The Blood of Fu Manchu (1968), he is best known for playing the lead in the long-running television series The Adventures of Robin Hood.

The musician David Dundas is 80 today. A son of the 3rd Marquess of Zetland, he is best known for writing the score for former housemate Bruce Robinson’s Withnail & I, Fourscore – Channel 4’s original signature tune – and the single Jeans On, which reached No 3 in August 1976.
