CC's Phil Mason is contributing to a discussion on decarbonisation at the Leeds freebie. I wonder if he'll tell them the Langarth project will add 800,000 tons of carbon and the annual carbon cost of Cornwall's housing plans are 20% of total emissions. …nwalldevelopersparadise.wordpress.com/2023/03/17/cle…

Good to see that Cornwall Council can afford to send 12 senior cllrs and officers to a freebie at Leeds to sell Cornwall to property developers and 'accelerate and unlock sustainable [sic], inclusive [sic] and transformational [sic] investment'. More at cornwallreports.co.uk/team-cornwall-…

Great news. Cornwall Council employees can now commute to Truro by horse as 'connectivity' is boosted. (p.s. Don't mention the big road underneath designed to 'open up land' for more housing and growth of extinction economy)

'Langarth will be ... 3,550 new homes available only to local people.' Who at Cornwall Council told this reporter such a patent lie? They may be able to fool a gullible reporter but not the Cornish people. inews.co.uk/news/housing/l…

The peasants are revolting. Poor old Duchy moans about criticism of its plans to build 2,500 houses on Grade 1 farmland in Kent. It's 'the right thing to do', it says. Right for its profits, but what else exactly? msn.com/en-gb/cars/new…

'The popularity of Cornwall as an ... area for relocation from other parts of Britain ... ha[s] made it harder for those on lower incomes' (CC). Odd then that some cllrs and planners have insisted for years that most new housing is bought by locals. estateagenttoday.co.uk/breaking-news/…

Tory Cllr Ollie Monk: 'unprecedented pressures on housing ... is largely due to an imbalance in housing supply and demand', i.e. build more. Doesn't this pre-empt the results of this Exeter Uni/Cornwall Council research on the housing crisis? miragenews.com/exeter-uni-sur…

Good news - 'the trend for holiday lets may be turning'. Bad news - 'as more people are looking to move to Cornwall rather than buy holiday homes' cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-…

Odd. Half the 245 houses planned for fields at Bodieve, Wadebridge will be mixed tenure and other 'affordable' homes. But only 30%(74) are 'allocated to locals by S106 agreement'. If housing need is so high as claimed why not all the 'affordable' housing? cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-…

In 2016, when I wrote this, it was obvious neither CC nor the UK Govt had any intention of taking Cornish national minority rights seriously. The data need updating and the references are old but depressing to see how little has changed. …nwalldevelopersparadise.wordpress.com/2016/03/02/the…

Next week is the 10th anniversary of national minority status for the Cornish. Why is Article 16 still being ignored? - 'The Parties shall refrain from measures which alter the proportions of the population in areas
inhabited by persons belonging to national minorities ... '

Persimmons is building another 187 more houses at Newquay, 57 of which will 'help address pressing housing requirements'. But why are they still 'pressing' when 2,525 houses were built at Newquay from 2011 to 2021 and 3,000 or so more have permission? persimmonhomes.com/locations/sout…

Luxury properties boom while housing crisis deepens. Why is the political class so blind to the urgent need to reform the housing market? But I forget. Their role is to smooth path to profits, gentrification and extinction, not meet basic human needs. cornwalllive.com/whats-on/whats…

Old Cornish traditions #1. Ribbon development is not dead in Cornwall as Truro creeps inexorably towards Redruth.
