I've just published a comment on late blooming criminal careers: link.springer.com/article/10.100… A few theories claim it is not a meaningful category - but without defining it, so hard to refute. While I comment on Matsuda et al, it is sort of directed elsewhere.

A bit late reposting but new preprint! I think this work is particularly topical given the discussions I've been seeing about how the sample ATE isn't the population ATE - heterogeniety in treatment effect is one of the conditions for this to be an issue.
