Same company I used to work for. The local news industry is 100% profits, 0% care for employees. Weather is the #1 reason people still watch, and now it is gone. This is just the beginning. Get out while you can!

POTENTIALLY CRUCIAL AUDIO FROM #DCA ATC ON #AA5342 @LiveATC audio from DCA Tower at 8:47 PM ET. Controller clearly asks the Black Hawk: “PAT25 do you have the CRJ (AA5342) in sight?! Pass behind the CRJ” ~10 seconds pass, then someone yells “Oh my god!” in the control tower.

I cannot wrap my head around why we need to be flying dozens of helicopters up and down the river commercial airliners use for visual approaches each day. And conducting training exercises in blurring night vision goggles. This makes absolutely zero sense to me. #AA5342

Aside from the potentially-unironic misspelling of “actually” and the best @ I have seen on this God-forsaken app… This is the best opinion I have seen so far on #AA5342. This is NOT a “How could this happen?” It is an “It was only a matter of time.” What were we thinking?!

It looks like the helicopter hits the lower fuselage of #AA5324, so it is entirely possible the crew in the cockpit never saw it. Center and/or left fuel tanks erupt, and I think the left wing completely detaches from the aircraft and disintegrates.

I just woke up panicked after having a dream that I hadn’t submitted a problem set for my vector calculus class. I graduated six years ago. Why is this still happening?

The Jones Road Fire in NJ is generating substantial smoke, shown here as a return on local radar. The New Jersey pine barrens have long been the site of extreme fire risk. But it is not very often that we see this kind of fire behavior in the Mid-Atlantic. #NJWx #JonesRoadFire

Somerset, Kentucky has been declared a mass casualty event after a violent tornado struck the area last night with insufficient warning. It is also in a National Weather Service coverage gap left by Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s cuts to the NWS. DOGE likely cost lives last night.

Wow, what a stressful week of work. Time to relax by holding a phone beaming endless streams of horrific international news inches from my head

Another day, another wildfire in the New Jersey pine barrens. Legitimately may be the most active fire region in the country.

Texas officials have long worried about the dangers to children who packed into camps each summer along the flood-prone Guadalupe River. They knew that warning systems were inadequate. So why was nothing done? We have reviewed documents spanning a decade to find answers. 🧵 1/9
