Something strange is happening in Chiswick. A lot of the people who I was told don’t and won’t cycle appear to be cycling when safe infrastructure has been installed. 🤗

If you build safe, segregated cycling infrastructure, you’ll never have to ‘encourage’ people to cycle again with pointless ‘national cycling week’ campaigns that don’t address the main cause of not cycling - the absence of safe, segregated cycling infrastructure.

Even with "British Austerity" London is moving forward with pedestrianising Oxford Street. Meanwhile in Belfast we are still waiting on this...

Yes, rather than cycle lanes connecting the north of the city with the urban core they get the York Street Interchange - an extended moat that serves to disconnect and harm those living nearby. The legacy of conflict planning in Belfast lives on.

Let’s hope for a new segregated cycle lane from the town down to the station with secure covered parking.

Driving a car, riding a bicycle, and walking are each forms of transportation. But for a variety of reasons, it's culturally normal to be hostile towards people who aren't driving a car. Spend some time walking or biking a city, and you'll become a much better driver.

Researchers found that when more people are out riding bikes, the people driving cars behave better. Everyone is safer when there's more cycling activity.
