Working with ferencmueller we Beggs Lab have branched out into ššš by making the most complete zebrafish genome assembly that exists currently using Oxford Nanopore sequencing - resolving the miR-430 repeat locus that was unresolvable using other long read techniques

Exciting news as the paper on RTF-ExPAR, a novel method of amplifying direct from RNA, in as little as 2 mins has landed on PNASNews this evening - led by Jake Carter Jim Tucker and Tim dafforn with help from us Beggs Lab - pnas.org/content/118/35ā¦

Many thanks to Medical Research Council for funding my Senior Clinical Research Fellowship today funding the use of theseš organoid models to investigate mechanisms of chemoradiosensitivity as part of the foxtrot-study and STAR-TREC trials - to make therapy better and less toxic for patients!

Another Oxford Nanopore sequencing blinder from Jo Stockton in Beggs Lab: Apparently you can't amplify methylated DNA and maintain the methylation - well you can! Top sample - conventional WGA Middle sample - methWGA Bottom sample - original sample

Sequenced by Beggs Lab - with: š RNA extraction using Covaris NA extraction š QIAGEN Life Sciences DNA and RNA multimodal NGS panel š Custom UoB Advanced Research Computing (BEAR) pipeline based on Nextflow Itās not easy but we are getting better at sequencing these historical samples
