One year on from the attempted military coup in #Myanmar, how have companies responded? We’ve asked 285 companies about #HumanRights in Myanmar during this period. Responses reveal a widespread lack of action to support workers & communities suffering under military rule. 🧵1/

NEW briefing: Human rights defenders under sustained attack in their fight to protect our planet 🌍 We recorded 615 attacks against #HRDs raising concerns about business operations in 2021. 70% of these attacks were against climate, land & environmental rights defenders. 1/

Our data on attacks in 2021 showed... 🔹 Defenders faced attacks in *every region* working on almost *every sector* 🔹 All 5 of the most dangerous sectors were linked to natural resources 🔹 At least 76 #HRDs were killed while defending their rights in 2021. 2/

Judicial harassment, including #SLAPPs, was the most common type of attack against #HRDs in 2021, constituting 60% of the total. This figure has risen by 30% since 2015 - businesses & states are increasingly abusing the judicial system to intimidate activists into silence. 4/
