WHY PETER PAN WAS FROM NOTTS: A THEORY 🧵 I'm far from the first to note that Peter Pan was inspired partly by Nottingham but I want to take it a little further: Peter Pan was based on an actual person from Nottingham. I mean, Disney has had it in plain sight for years

By sheer coincidence this morning I went for breakfast at a cafe right next to the JM Barrie plaque, and received a phone call from BBC Nottingham asking if I'd like to do a piece on it, so I did, and I'll let you know when it's broadcast...

Byron fans! Poetry fans! Really fascinating big abbey* fans! This is tomorrow in Newstead and you should go as I helped arrange it (though can't attend). That other Lord B would approve. *technically a priory, not an abbey.

At my first festival since 2006. Was in bed by 11, up at 5am. Now eating granola and sipping americano while contemplating a sauna. 2006 me is looking disgusted at 2024 me and saying "You've, changed man".

They've got baby massage at this festival but I can't see how that works. You'd need about five of them to make any discernable effect on my knotted shoulders and they'd keep crawling away. Won't bother.

Heavens, Olaf Falafel is excellent live and my son is a convert. He also made a very good joke directly to my friend John and his lad and a brilliantly rude joke I'll be passing off as my own throughout the Summer

I'm not a busker but I feel incredibly seen here cos when the temp goes over 25c I do stuff like take my son for a test, make some ear/hearing jokes to the clinician, then remember he's actually an optician and my son is there for an eye test and everyone's looking at me pitifully

Just had a 25 minute conversation with an absolute stranger based around our predictions of seeing a spoonbill in Attenborough Nature Reserve. Love Summer where everyone goes a bit weird

Is it ok to change the football team you support on the basis of the shiteness of their ticket booking? I've yet to have a smooth Nottingham Forest experience. What's County like?

Beeston Beast: the legendary black panther that roams the local countryside has been spotted again near Bardills Island. Formidable beast

Like Brazil being named after Brazil nuts, Beeston is indeed named after the phantom beasts that roam from the rugged banks of the Trent to the wild hills of Bramcote. 'Bes-Tyn', Old English for 'Beast Town'. Incredible how few residents know about that.

Taking a prolonged break from here while I look after the kids over Summer. Hopefully return to a nicer, less Musky place. If you want owt, I'm available elsewhere and you know more or less where I live. Tarah!
