In honor of International Women's Day, I celebrate this brilliant daughter of the #MarshallIslands. Gone far too soon but her legacy lives on in her contributions to our scientific understanding of atoll environments impacted by #nucleartesting and #climatechange. Rest in Love.

This is what happens to islands in RMI 🇲🇭 during a king tide, a common occurrence and reality for low-lying atoll nations. If you’ve ever asked yourself why RMI leaders, negotiators and climate justice activists lead with so much knowledge, heart and passion—this is why.

The US Congress just approved US$7.1 billion of COFA funding for three Micronesian states, spread over 20 years. But the US military’s Indo-Pacific Command in Hawai’i has just asked Congress for more than US$26 billion FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR. Do the maths on guns and butter.

🌍✨ This past Monday, Benetick Maddison shared his story on nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands at the #PeaceBoat event. His and other hibakusha testimonies remind us of the urgent need for nuclear disarmament. Youth engagement is key to a peaceful, nuclear-free world! ✌️🌿
