Ann Bauer Becky Tuch ALL writers need to stop paying - there's no need for it. I've been leading a charge against fees and 3rd party sub mgrs like Submittable for months... I'm glad others are finally realizing, too...

New policy at Lit Mag News: If a magazine charges over $5.00 in submission fees, I will not be interviewing the editors.

How do you feel about presses pushing back contest deadlines *and* marking down entry fees for latecomers? Shouldn't early submitters get the discounts?

Today I interviewed Neil Clarke, Founder of sci-fi mag clarkesworld. This is a paying market that is open year-round and does not charge fees. No fees and paying writers is the norm with sci-fi magazines. Why? Because writers not only refuse to pay fees, they collectively
