Drive enough between Columbia, SC (where Westinghouse builds nuclear fuel) and Augusta, GA (closest big city to Vogtle) and you might see a nondescript trucks carrying thousands of kWh of clean energy. This one is empty having already delivered its load of nuclear fuel.

Hmm….wonder why ANS is posting this today! Perhaps in response to some uninformed perspectives from Ted Nordhaus and Breakthrough on the value of and what constitutes technical accomplishment in the nuclear industry.

When asked what technical accomplishment would qualify someone for the NRC if being a licensed operator is insufficient, Ted Nordhaus rattles off roles (including operator), and then just says “substantial experience and responsibility,” without actually giving an achievement 🤷🏻‍♂️
