Main finding: learning another meaning for familiar words was just as difficult as learning the primary meaning of unfamiliar words, suggesting that type of meaning (primary, secondary polysemous, or secondary homonymous) might not influence the deliberate acquisition of L2 words

Self-defeating austerity at @SheffieldUni, as everything (bar UEB bonuses, recently uncapped) is cut to balance the books after we did a slow-motion slide out of the QS Top 100, leading to drastic reductions in overseas applications. Confidence in the leadership here ebbing away.

Well! When I said yesterday that confidence was ebbing away, little did I imagine that over 10% of staff at @SheffieldUni would turn up to a joint-union held meeting to vote no confidence in UEB's leadership. 944 votes with 93.3% no confidence according to @SheffieldUCU. Brutal.
