HFM met with the Minister of FA and Trade of Jamaica, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith on the margin of the SIDS4 Conference in Saint Jhon’s, Antigua & Barbuda on 28 May 2024, they discussed strengthening of trade, collaboration in maritime sector &cooperation in climate action.

HFM called for universal access to eye health services at a side event organized by the UN group of Friends of Vision in St. John's, Antigua & Barbuda on 27 May' 24. The event addressed inequalities in eye care access, particularly in low & middle-income countries.

The new Finnish Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Kimmo LÄHDEVIRTA called on FS Mausd Bin Momen today at MoFA. Both sides discussed upcoming BD-Finland FOC in Dhaka, cooperation in renewable energy, IT, trade, migration, culture, and Rohingya issue.

The Japanese Special Envoy for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, arrived at Dhaka on 03 June 2024 on a 2-day visit. The Additional Foreign Secretary, Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, welcomed him at the airport.

The FS met with Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of Nippon Foundation & the Special Envoy of the Govt. of Japan on Myanmar this evening in Dhaka. Duirng the meeting they discussed on the recent situations in Rakhine & the course of repatriation of the Rohingyas.

3rd Bangladesh-Uzbekistan FOC was held today at Tashkent. FS & Uzbek First Deputy Foreign Minister led their delegations. Whole spectrum of bilateral cooperation was discussed in the FOC. MoU on cooperation between diplomatic academies of both countries was signed.

H.E. Mr. Riccardo GUARIGLIA, SG of the Italian MFA called on HFM Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP at MOFA during his maiden visit to 🇧🇩. They underscored the decades-old Bangladesh-Italy friendship & discussed strengthening further cooperation in different aspects.

Outgoing Swedish Ambassador H.E. Ms. Alexandra Berg von Linde paid farewell call on HFM Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP at MOFA and both discussed scopes of expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of ICT, green transition and smart city solutions in the coming days.

New Amb-designate of Greece to Bangladesh H.E. Aliki Koutsomitopoulou called on FS at MoFA today. Both sides expressed interest to further strengthen political & cultural relations, collaboration in education, trade, skilled migration, & international issues of mutual interest.

Amb Charles Whiteley, EU Head of Delegation to 🇧🇩 paid farewell call on HFM today at MoFA. FM thanked Amb Whiteley for his contributions in further strengthening BD-EU partnership. They discussed PCA, EU’s trade facility, Talent Partnership, CRIMARIO II & Rohingya crisis.

The 2nd 🇧🇩-🇰🇪 FOC in Nairobi, led by both Foreign Secretaries, marked progress in bilateral ties. Kenya reassured of opening a diplomatic mission in Dhaka. Key discussions included trade, agriculture, revival of JCC, finalization of pending MoUs, and Blue Economy cooperation.

MoFA has lodged a formal protest to the Govt of India on the killing of a 13-year-old Bangladeshi girl, Shwarna Das of Juri upazila of Moulvibazar district, who was shot by BSF of India on 01 September 2024.
