BREAKING: Vancouver-Mt. Pleasant MLA Melanie Mark (Hli Haykwhl Ẃii Xsgaak) is resigning from her seat in the provincial legislature. Mark was the first indigenous woman elected to BC's legislature and first woman to serve in its cabinet.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has requested military assistance to help combat the 98 active wildfires in the province. Smith announced a one-time payment of $1,250 for every adult displaced by fires for 7 days or more, with an added $500 for each child under the age of 18.

BREAKING - Heavy police presence in New Westminster. 6th Street shut down between Princess and Hamilton. Police have not commented on the incident except to say they have closed off parts of 6th Street and Seventh Avenue.

DEVELOPING - New Westminster police are advising people to avoid the area around 6th street between Princess and Hamilton. Roads are closed in the area and there is a heavy police presence. Photos from witnesses show a taxi surrounded by several three vehicles and an ambulance.
