Day 4 Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco trip and we have made it to the Sahara near Erfoud, the centre of the Moroccan fossil industry and one of the sites where The Mummy was filmed. As ever, our accommodation is a great hardship!
#Sahara desert today Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco trip. First to the #KemKem where we found #theropods, crocs, snakes, #pterosaurs and lots of fish. Lunch at the local oasis followed by playing in the sand dunes.
Still in the #Sahara Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco field trip, but today was back in time to the #Devonian. First up some ancient hydrothermal seafloor vents, a look at an end Devonian anoxic event followed by some rapid field mapping.
Last day in the #Sahara Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco spent looking at (and climbing) the amazing dunes of Erg Chebbi around #Merzouga. Definite land use conflict between ATVs and motorbikes ripping through the dune system and conservation.
Left the #Sahara behind today to head to the Lower Jurassic Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco field trip. Dinosaur trackways and dinoturbated rocks in #Dades gorge, folding and a nice unconformity.
Our last day in #Morocco Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences field trip saw us heading back through the High Atlas to #Ouarzazate and some stunning #Ediacaran stromatolites.
Don't miss out on the Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences Bernal Lecture tomorrow! Free to attend, but booking is essential: bit.ly/3wucAkh
For #FossilFriday a look back at some highlights from the Birkbeck School of Natural Sciences #Morocco fieldtrip. Ediacaran stromatolites, Early Devonian carbonate mud mounds in the eastern Anti-Atlas, #Jurassic dinosaur footprints, and cute little #theropod teeth from the Kem Kem.

Was great to appear on Arirang TV today to discuss the recent earthquake in Japan. Luckily it coincided with a trip to Korea for #IGC2024 so I got the full studio experience. Looking forward to my first trip to #Busan. youtube.com/watch?v=LLgBSsβ¦. Birkbeck, University of London Birkbeck, Faculty of Science
