I do enjoy a spinning cube but hadn't written one for my Z80 computer yet so was inspired by L Break Into Program to put one together in BBC BASIC. It implements double buffering via palette trickery: bbcmic.ro/#%7B%22v%22%3A…

Launching a personal project: QX82, a tiny Javascript engine for retro games and experiences, inspired a bit by the ZXSpectrum look and feel and QBASIC programming. Free and completely open-source (MIT licensed). More info: btco.github.io/qx82

BASIC. When the flick of a switch and a simple prompt felt like the world was at your fingertips. But maybe just a quick game of something first.

Tested out some arcade games. Looks pretty realistic in the headset - I love that this is all web based! #threejs #WebXR #MetaQuest3

BBC BASIC was available for the Acorn Atom. The upgrade was a ROM module that contained a 16KROM with BASIC and a 4KMOS ROM to handle the relevant OS calls. It cost a very reasonable £49.95.

Zarch demonstrates what could be achieved with an 8MHz ARM 2 CPU in 1988. Running on an Archimedes using a 256 colour video mode and NO GPU or graphics accelerator, pure CPU brute force. Written entirely in ARM assembler, not BASIC as incorrectly reported in some articles/media.
