The Baby Bonus team will be joining the coalition against Question H. Our volunteers will be knocking on doors, tabling at community events, and out on Election Day. This isn’t about protecting our current elected officials, it’s about protecting Baltimore.

If the Baltimore Baby Bonus passes in November, we expect payments to begin on July 1, 2025 (fiscal year 2026). Exactly nine months from today....

Great piece on the value of a baby bonus. This chart is very compelling. A parent’s income to needs ratio drops over 30% at the birth of a child. The number is obviously higher for poorer families.

Baltimore doesn’t have to wait for the federal government to support families at their most vulnerable time. Baby bonuses are affordable for local governments. Every moment of inaction causes permanent damage to children born in Baltimore City.

We asked the Courts to decide on the legality of the Baby Fund in advance to avoid future litigation after thousands of people in Baltimore had signed the petition. The Mayor asked them to dismiss the case and the Court granted the motion. Full statement below.
