“Action follows being.” “That which is received is received according to the mode of the receiver.” “Form is an act.” “Don’t let things you can’t control, control you.” “Ever politics assumes a morality (an account of the human person), & every morality, a metaphysic.”

I'm less fussy about what's in the canon than about the fact that we need a canon. When I visit even elite colleges now, it strikes me that the kids have fewer and fewer common references. They don't recognize bible quotes, don't recognize Shakespeare, don't recognize Dickens ...

Absolutely. During the summer we were told to go play and weren’t allowed inside. When we were thirsty, we were told “drink from the hose.” Real OG’s know to let that water run first until it gets cool.

I don’t have an opinion on the great Genes/Jeans kerfuffle. Some things that definitely are racist and/or eugenic? The history of Planned Parenthood. Sex-selective and disability-based abortion. Claiming you’ve “eradicated” Down syndrome by aborting diagnosed babies.

Faculty should not only include policies in their syllabi that preclude students using generative AI on assignments but also they should state that they won’t use it either when making the syllabus, course outcomes, assignments, rubrics, or in grading etc.

Not true. Christ as man did not seek his own glory but the glory of the Father. Christ as God is infinitely glorious, and the recognition of his glory by creatures adds nothing to that infinitude. He died out of love for you. He was already full, and died to share his fullness.

Great observation: We regulate self-driving cars heavily but have no guardrails on AI and kids because "damage to the mind and soul are no big deal, not like real injuries"

My friends, the whole point of the story is that Aslan is Jesus. Just as Aslan/Jesus is the king in the story and he institutes human vicars to govern on his behalf, so too humans govern creation on God’s behalf (Genesis) [even in a republic] and the Apostles do (in the Church).

The pope, after years of Vatican employees being underpaid, has approved parental leave, family allowances, & the rights of parents whose children have disabilities on his own initiative and unprompted. He has also started bringing back vacations. Big win! vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2…

Don’t talk about toleration when you’re dragging the Little Sisters of the Poor through decades of litigation to force nuns to pay for contraception and abortion.
