Spent yesterday exploring a (very) wet woodland, helping out the team here with experiment set up and thinking about future methane flux measurements in the woodland- Thanks for inviting me!

A bit different to my PhD fieldwork, but I wanted to give some appreciation and post some photos from my amazing year working and flying with FAAM Airborne Laboratory whilst completing my masters in chemistry. Hopefully I’ll be flying on the 146 again!

A group of us spent day 4 of the ⁦RHUL Earth Sciences⁩ Pembrokeshire trip cruising and air and water sampling around Milford Haven.

It’s a privilege to work in such a beautiful place, and it’s made better by working with such great people too. Been having a fun (and muddy!) few days setting up our measurement site in the wet woodland at Wakehurst where we’ll measure GHG fluxes over the course of a year.

Photos from an unbelievably exciting day this week: sat in the jumpseat of FAAM Airborne Laboratory’s research aircraft leading a flight aimed at characterising methane flux from peatland across the Flow Country. I’m still completely in awe of those views! Thanks to everyone involved! ✈️

I’m really excited to be helping expand the current gas flux measurement sites at Wakehurst to include a wet woodland site too!

Half a kilometre of cabling, two solar panels, 60m of boardwalk and our LI-COR Environmental CO2/CH4 analyser. Our fifth greenhouse gas monitoring hub is coming together with Royal Holloway Health Studies RHUL Earth Sciences and Wakehurst

We’ve been working in the #wetwoodland at Wakehurst today installing dipwells for hydrological monitoring as part of the Wet Woodlands Research Network research network and supporting Steph Batten (she/her)’s PhD. I’m excited to see what the data show!
