Puffins vs Brown Rats = not a fair fight! Our seabirds had evolved their breeding strategies long before rats arrived in the UK, they have no natural defence against rats. Seabirds need these islands to remain rat-free to survive, rats can and will thrive almost anywhere!

Fantastic first week tour on Barra. Everything from flat calm & sunny to 60kt+ winds. Explored a lot of islands, lots of swims, snorkels and wildlife watching along with guided walks and cake! Excited for our next trip starting tommorow.

Brown Rats can & will eat almost anything, including seabird eggs, chicks & even adults. An adult Storm Petrel would only feed a single rat for one day! The damage that rats can do to seabird populations is immense, we must work together to prevent rats reaching seabird islands!

Today we headed back to Oban after finishing our second week tour based from Barra. As ever a mix of weather but some epic adventures around the isles.

Fantastic to see this catshark laying an egg today. Once hatched the empty case can wash up on shore and are called mermaids purses. One cancellation space on our 5 day tour starting Monday from Oban

Everything seemed to be on track again this year and the hunch proved to be right. Our first basking shark specific trip of the season scored big time today! 💙🦈🦈🦈☀️

Guess who! Nice to see the return of the big laddie JC to the Hebrides after disappearing for a while. He’s getting on a bit now so never know when the last time is gonna be. Last sighting of Aquarius was down in Ireland which ain’t that far in a straight line from here.
