#DYK Earth has a squishy interior? Not like mochi 🍡 Due to high temperatures and pressures, Earth’s interior has a semi-solid or squishy consistency. This allows the mantle to flow and move over geological timescales - causing plate tectonics, volcanic activity and earthquakes.

One consequence of this squishy interior is what we call post-glacial rebound. This process is still occurring today in places such as Canada, Scandinavia, and Greenland. Data from European Space Agency's GOCE mission has shown Antarctica is rising faster than anywhere else in the world!
