The BC carbon tax was changed from being revenue neutral (with offsetting income tax reductions) to being used to hire more government staff and fund CleanBC programs. Result: emissions are going up.

Recently obtained BC Government documents confirm that projects have been stalled at least in part due to a lack of electricity. cbc.ca/player/play/vi…

New report shows how the government’s electric vehicle policies are hurting lower income people while likely benefiting Tesla and Elon Musk. energyfuturesinstitute.ca/news-releases/…

The consumer carbon tax is being removed, but is the government giving with one hand and taking away with the other? They are allowing a number of cities (like Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Victoria and Nanaimo) to get in the way. energyfuturesinstitute.ca/news-releases/…

A new report assesses the feasibility of electric vehicle mandates, and finds they disproportionately impose financial burdens on lower income people while benefiting companies like Tesla.

The BC Government just acknowledged what most of us knew - they are not on track to hit their legislated GHG reduction targets. See graph below from their report released today. GHGs are trending up (even without counting GHGs from continuing imports of electricity). #BCpoli

With government rebates getting canceled, it’s time to do the same for BC’s unrealistic electric vehicle mandates. energyfuturesinstitute.ca/news-releases/…

The BC Government is ending electric vehicle (EV) rebates, but keeping the most unrealistic EV sales mandates in North America (90% by 2030), even as EV sales in BC fell to 18% of new car sales in February...limiting choice, driving up costs & benefitting Elon Musk's Tesla.

Congratulations to Charlotte Mitha who has been named as BC Hydro’s next President & CEO, at a time when the government has just announced efforts to reduce dependence on imported electricity. This is a very important role in our Province. Best wishes for success!

It’s encouraging to hear the BC Government state an intention to reduce reliance on imported electricity, but are government policies fully aligned towards this goal? #bcpoli energyfuturesinstitute.ca/news-releases/…

New data shows BC Hydro is continuing to import electricity so far this year, purchasing 3,000 gigawatt hours of power on a net basis since January - details: energyfuturesinstitute.ca/news-releases/…

Big step forward for BC this week with the first fuelling of a LNG-powered cruise ship in Canada, making use of a made-in-BC fuel and reducing fine particulates and other criteria pollutants. #BCPOLI

It’s time to revise CleanBC policies which are driving up electricity demand, to reduce dependence on imported power from the USA. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

Barry Penner (@barrypenner1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Another year of dependence on the USA for electricity looms. BC Hydro has already imported 60% of the annual output of the almost-finished Site C dam in just the first 4 months of the year. #BCPoli

Hmmm...near the end of this article, there are comments about BC Hydro increasingly looking east (Alberta) for power where 75% of the electricity generated last year came from natural gas...a power source which is being banned in BC next year. biv.com/news/resources…
