Our beautiful staffulty and students at MES gave me the MOST special parting gift on our last day before Christmas break. They surprised me with a “final walk” down the halls before beginning my retirement. I’ll forever be thankful for the love, leadership, and lessons learned.

Dear Parents and Guardians, We love supporting our students, but working after-hours events for free takes time from our own families. Teachers already work unpaid hours. Just like you, we deserve to be paid for extra work.

Many believe Standards-Based Grading (SBG) is meant to boost achievement. SBG isn't about raising achievement—it's about accurately verifying it. Use grades to reflect true proficiency, not as motivational tools or rewards for obedience. #assessment #grading #atplc #education

From Gage Wood’s no hitter to last night’s game Arkansas Baseball lived the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Over 32 years at ESPN, I have landed in a place I don’t root for teams, I pull for people and the people of Arkansas baseball are among the best in the sport.

A message from a Kindergarten teacher: After forty years in the classroom, my career ended with one small sentence from a six-year-old: “My dad says people like you don’t matter anymore.” No sneer. No malice. Just quiet honesty — the kind that cuts deeper because it’s

Quick thought on a Monday. Did ya have the Cat poster that told the kids (or you…ha!) to hang in there? I did. Culture is built on the behaviors we repeat…not the posters that we put up. Remember that refers to ALL behaviors. Every interaction matters. #LeadFromWhereYouAre

If you’ve named the essentials, then stop waiting for perfect conditions. Pick the standards that truly matter, build the plan, and move. Kids don’t have extra time. So neither can we.

Good leaders know that leading is not about having power over others. Be sure you’re empowering the people who look to you to guide them. Never let ego get in the way of being a good leader—in your classroom or out of it. #edchat
