We are reasonably sure that #spices from #MDH, #Everest and almost all other popular Indian brands we are consuming in India are carrying cancer-causing pesticides, too. telegraphindia.com/business/befor…

#Rohingya insurgents are abducting and "selling" their fellow men and boys to the #Myanmar Army. The youths are being used as "human shields" by both sides in the war — the army and the Rakhine rebels. I have written the report for South China Morning Post. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

I guess I can finally say this now: I will be joining Columbia Journalism this fall as an MS in Journalism candidate. Thank you, everyone, who has stuck by my side in my still-germinating journalism career. I cannot wait for what's to come next, InshaAllah.

After 13 years working as a correspondent in India, the authorities have denied me a permit to work as a journalist. I have thus been forced to leave the country. Here is my statement.

In the past decade, I followed a dozen cases in which body parts of cows were placed at temples in Rajasthan, UP, Delhi and WB. In all cases, the police found the miscreants to be #Hindu. There is a high possibility that no #Muslim was involved in this Delhi temple case, too.

#Bangladesh faces demand for justice over ‘unlawful killings’ during student protests I have written the report for the South China Morning Post. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

As the #StudentProtest in #Bangladesh continues, at Rajshahi University, in front of police and the army, activists of pro-ruling party groups were found assaulting the protesting students.

“#Hasina’s ability to remain in power (in #Bangladesh) will depend on the continued willingness of the police and military to use force to contain protests," Jon Danilowicz said. I have reported for South China Morning Post. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

“The #SheikhHasina government has pushed the common people to the edge, leaving them with no option but to fight back in an uprising against her regime," Ashraf Zaman said. South China Morning Post carried my report on #Bangladesh #StudentProtest. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

“Although the AA has taken control of large parts of Rakhine state from the #Myanmar junta, they are acting like a perpetrator of violence, not a revolutionary armed group trying to uphold human rights and democracy.” My comments Shaikh Azizur Rahman Voice of America: voanews.com/a/rights-group…

The rape and murder of the Kolkata doctor has outraged the nation, justifiedly. Why is the country quiet on the rape and murder of Uttarakhand nurse Tasleem Jahan? Even the news of the rape of the Muslim nurse by Dharmendra is missing from the mainstream media! #JusticeForTasleem

Families in #Bangladesh whose relatives became victims of #EnforcedDisappearance during the rule of Sheikh Hasina are harbouring new hope for an accounting or even the return of their loved ones... I have written the story for the Voice of America. voanews.com/a/bangladeshi-…

It's a talisman around the neck of an apparently #Muslim boy in #Bangladesh. It's not a Brahmin sacred thread. None wears that thread around the neck. The talisman is clearly visible. You often take recourse to such false narratives targeting #Muslims, to spread #Islamophobia.

The victim is a Hindu. There is a good reason to hope that we will see good actions against the cow vigilantes this time. telegraphindia.com/india/haryana-…

Since the fall of #SheikhHasina in #Bangladesh, thousands of her party men and police and army officers as well as others, accused of supporting her regime, have gone underground fearing mob attacks and arrest. I have written this story for South China Morning Post. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

India's Supreme Court takes early steps attempting to stop "Bulldozer Justice" in which mostly #Muslim properties are targeted in punitive demolitions, in BJP-ruled states. I have written this story for South China Morning Post. scmp.com/week-asia/poli…
