Today I held meaningful bilateral talks with my Sri Lankan colleague Hon. M.U.M. Ali Sabry M U M Ali Sabry in Colombo. Our discussions focused on strengthening cooperation at both the bilateral and multilateral levels, and especially the Commonwealth.

I’m in Tokyo attending the TICAD Ministerial. Today, I was pleased to join my sisters from Central African Republic, Senegal Yassine Fall , Sierra Leone and the Deputy AU Chair for a working lunch hosted by the FM of Japan, where we discussed extensively the WPS agenda.

It was a delight to engage with leaders and representatives of Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Tonga & New Zealand on my vision for Secretary General on the margins of the Pacific Islands Forum. Climate is a key part of this vision, which I discussed extensively with each one of them.

Today, on the margins of the #PIFLM53 I continued to engage a number of leaders and representatives of some Member States, this included Samoa, Nauru, Fiji and Vanuatu. We discussed, among others, the vulnerabilities of the Pacific Islands and the need to address them.

I am pleased to have successfully represented Ghana at the 53rd Meeting the Pacific Islands Forum. In addition to shared positions on my vision for a New Commonwealth, I pledged Ghana’s support for a strategic, collaborative partnership between Ghana & Pacific Islands

Over the past 24 years, China has advanced towards a stronger friendship and partnership with Africa. It is hoped that the announcement at #FOCAC2024 of a more strategic bilateral partnership with African countries would help build resilience across the continent.
