ICTJ, in collaboration with United Nations Peacebuilding, Our Nation Our Voice, Think Young Women, Fantanka and Peace Ambassadors - The Gambia, is launching an exciting 10-day caravan that will travel to all 5 regions of #TheGambia. The initiative seeks to ignite dynamic discussions with the youth across the nation.

#TheGambia | Kick-starting the 10 days #Caravan tour with United Nations Peacebuilding, Think Young Women, Fantanka, Peace Ambassadors - The Gambia, Our Nation Our Voice. We'll be in #Westfield, #Serrekunda & #Tallinding, engaging in conversations on transitional justice, peacebuilding, reconciliation, & governance.

Today, the #Caravan engaged with youth in #TheGambia's West Coast region to discuss their critical role in advocating for TJ processes. One participant said “For youth to participate in nation building, the government should commit to development, especially in agricultural.”

Standing in solidarity with all Gambian women and survivors of FGM/C, I hope the National Assembly Of The Republic of The Gambia Members uphold the ban. #endfgm

On July 22, 1994, Yahya Jammeh orchestrated a coup d'état that placed him at the head of #TheGambia for nearly 21 years. Reports have revealed that throughout his rule, the state committed egregious human rights violations, including torture and extrajudicial killings.
