It is Monday morning, and apropos of nothing, I am reminding people that pre-orders are crucial for a book, and I would love it if you pre-ordered mine, which is out October 14. Come for The Paris Review/CIA shenanigans, stay for the cryptozoology.

The Cryptid Archive had me dig up this cool old drawing of a flying snake in Mexico. This dates all the way back to 1932 when a Nebraskan man went looking for one, but was unable to capture a specimen

During the 19th century, a few naturalists reported seeing or collecting star-nosed moles in California, Oregon, and Washington. However, the star-nosed mole is only known to exist in northeastern North America, with all northwestern fossils being many millions of years old.
