@surajtiwari144 Abhishek Avtans अभिषेक अवतंस 🌐 The number I gave is from the 2011 Census, where Awadhi was listed as a “mother tongue” under Hindi “language”.

François-Xavier Durandy @surajtiwari144 Abhishek Avtans अभिषेक अवतंस 🌐 These Census data of Hindi or related langs can not be taken as correct. In villages and smaller many still Speak Awadhi, Bundeli,Braj Bhasha etc. But most give Hindi as mother tongue in census and other official records. Because officially these are classified Hindi dialects.

ಶ್ರೀನಿಧಿ Śrīnidhi François-Xavier Durandy @surajtiwari144 Abhishek Avtans अभिषेक अवतंस 🌐 I grew up speaking Braj with my family but I studied from Hindi medium. We were always taught to mark Hindi as mother tongue. If you ask someone here they'd say their mother tongue is Hindi even though they rarely speak Hindi. Nobody seems to know what their language is called.
