In 2011, Wisconsin nuked the ability of teachers unions' to negotiate compensation & opened the door to individual pay This incentivized large numbers of college students to enter teaching -- particularly from selective universities -- and appreciably raised K-12 achievement

127 drug dealers in the Tenderloin. Dean, tell me again that safe injection sites are the answer. Tell me again that arresting drug dealers is pointless. Tell me again that the Four Pillars model - which Vancouver has been trying since 2006 - will fix this.

“Bilal is winning because there was a team of three candidates attacking Dean,” Looijen told Gazetteer. sf.gazetteer.co/dean-preston-r… D5 is about to get representation that is committed to solving our problems— and it took a team to do it.

San Francisco does "streamlined contracting" with non-profits for homeless services, aka no-bid contracts. In 2019, the city had 1% no-bid contracts. In 2022 it was 43% This year, the Board of Supervisors extended the policy until 2029 by a 7-4 vote. 🧵 thefrisc.com/sf-wants-scrut…

Matt Alexander promised to balance the SFUSD budget by reducing admin costs. Instead, in his first meeting of the new term, he wants to increase admin costs by $275k to hire a pre-selected mystery candidate to do communications. (We already have someone doing that.)

It's painful to see what's become of our beloved city of San Francisco. As a 20-year resident, I stay to fight for her recovery because we are her community, her underbelly, her innovative engine, and her backbone. As residents, we've been demonized, doxxed, assaulted, and

Legislator Dr. LaShae Sharp-Collins bravely stands up to her committee to say the obvious: K-12 should should prepare college-bound kids for college. Alas, her voice of reason fell on deaf ears. AB 1217 strips UC/CSU from controlling college admission reqs, and to take orders from K-12. 1/

I ran the campaign to bring algebra back to SF's middle schools. It was the most popular thing I ever worked on. Voters don't want to take away opportunities for kids who can't afford private school. If anyone wants to put this on the ballot in Palo Alto, happy to advise.
