Congratulations to Aleece Katan on starting her residency at the Edmonton Consortium #ClinicalPsychology Residency program! We are wishing her all the best on this next stage of her PhD at UWaterloo Psychology.

#TBT Women with #anorexia tend to feel proud before and immediately after exercise, but grow more ashamed of their eating, body, and general character as time passes. Read @ma_ruofan & Allison Kelly's paper published in Eating and Weight Disorders here: doi.org/10.1007/s40519…

We are excited to be accepting applications for graduate students to the #ClinicalPsychology program UWaterloo Psychology for fall 2025! View info on joining our lab and Allison Kelly here: uwaterloo.ca/self-attitudes… Due to funding constraints only Canadian applicants can be considered

Congrats Monica Grove & Michelle Korlacka on receiving the #Ontario Graduate Scholarship for their PhD research! Monica uses social psychological theories to understand predictors of #SelfCompassion & Michelle examines how self-compassion interventions may help self-critical individuals

Only a few seats left for Michelle Korlacka, Monica Grove & Erin Bowman's presentation on Oct 30th "What is #SelfCompassion and is it Useful for Me?" Adults 50+ years old can register for the event at the Forest Heights Kitchener Public Library branch here: kpl.events.mylibrary.digital/event?id=110911

Congratulations to our research assistant Esosa Omoregbee for graduating with her BSc in #Psychology and beginning her MASc in Industrial-Organizational Psychology University of Waterloo! With the lab, Esosa worked alongside Monica Grove helping with her MA research.

We would like to congratulate our students Michelle and Monica on graduating with their MA in #ClinicalPsychology from UWaterloo Psychology! We are looking forward to having Monica Grove and Michelle Korlacka continue as PhD students with the Self-Attitudes Lab.

Erin Bowman, Michelle Korlacka & Monica Grove shared an impactful presentation, " What is #SelfCompassion & is it Useful for Me?" as part of the Active Adults Series Kitchener Public Library. They introduced self-compassion to adults 50+ years old and gave tips to help integrate it into daily life.

Come check out our grad students Monica Grove and Michelle Korlacka's poster presentations this Saturday at #ABCT2024!

Thank you Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies for a wonderful conference and the opportunity to present work done by Allison Kelly and myself. It was great to chat with others about intervening with self-criticism with brief cognitive and compassion-focused interventions! Self-Attitudes Lab #ABCT2024

It was a pleasure to connect with researchers and clinicians at this year’s Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies conference! Thank you for the engaging poster session, wonderful workshops and symposia, and lovely community. #ABCT2024

Meet (most of) the members of the Self-Attiudes Lab UWaterloo Psychology this semester! We are so thankful to have such a wonderful team of researchers. #Psychology #Research

Big congratulations to Aleece Katan on being awarded a University of Waterloo #Psychology Memorial Award! This award recognizes outstanding UWaterloo Psychology students based on academic excellence.

#SelfCompassion may be contagious & benefit others! Hearing someone display self-compassion is associated with more state self-compassion, more positive affect, & lower negative affect in the listener. Read Kathryn Miller & Allison Kelly's paper here: doi.org/10.1037/cbs000…

Congrats to Mia Mackenzie on finishing her last semester UWaterloo Psychology! Mia completed her honours thesis in our lab, finding that more #SelfCompassion is related to less negative #BodyImage, while more loneliness is linked to more negative body image.

Meet our research assistant Caitlyn Mask! Caitlyn is a fourth year student UWaterloo Psychology who has been working with our lab since December 2023. She has been helping PhD student Jenessa Shaw transcribe interviews with participants and is excited to start coding these interviews

#TBT Allison Kelly and Sydney Waring find a self-compassionate letter-writing intervention for non-treatment seeking women with #anorexia, increases #SelfCompassion, decreases shame and fear of self-compassion, and may increase readiness to get help. doi.org/10.1002/eat.22…
