As the Fall 2023 ATP class winds down, we are thrilled to hear participants present their QI projects, and optimistic for the future knowing how this cohort is working to improve health outcomes in the communities they serve Raj Srivastava
Today we welcome the Winter ‘24 cohort to ATP! They were fortunate to hear Greg Poulsen, Intermountain’s Sr Vice President speak about the value-based care journey – what it is, why it’s important, and how healthcare systems are aligning to do value-based care Raj Srivastava
Today the ATP met virtually, and discussed ways of characterizing a problem, mapping a process, and heard Jen House, Sr Advisor to Intermountain’s Chief Clinical Officer, describe using data to drive improvement through outcome, process, and balancing measures Raj Srivastava
Dr Marilyn McKasson and Kristy Veale, Neurosciences Clinical Program Leaders at Intermountain, spoke to us about implementing a stroke care process model which utilized tele-stroke services and decreased door to needle times across our legacy system Raj Srivastava
Rusty Moore, Intermountain’s medical director for Continuous Improvement spoke about what an operating model looks like at the front line. Improvements are sustained through closed-loop systems and leader follow up, aimed at reduced waste and improved reliability Raj Srivastava

McCall Rowley, Intermountain Health VP of Finance, Shared Services & Ventures spoke about tracking healthcare costs and financial impact. Participants learned what they need to know about costs for their ATP projects and how to reduce costs in the healthcare system Raj Srivastava
George Scott MD, Peaks ACMIO and Jen Voss, PI Specialist for Intermountain’s Clinical Excellence shared the Peaks Region sepsis care project to improve sepsis mortality. The project followed quality improvement principles to improve outcomes for patients Raj Srivastava
Tamara Moores Todd MD, Intermountain’s interim Chief Health Informatics Officer, spoke about using technology to drive adherence to best practice. Tech can make it easier to do the right thing after understanding the problem and addressing process/people issues Raj Srivastava
Heidi Wald MD, Intermountain’s Chief Quality & Safety Officer, described the role of Clinical Excellence at Intermountain Health. She shared key concepts in health equity and how to apply data stratification and QI tools to incorporate an equity lens into QI work Raj Srivastava

The Proactive Care in an Imperfect Healthcare System workshop, sponsored by Intermountain’s Proactive Care Guidance Council and presented by the Healthcare Delivery Institute, kicked off yesterday with clinical, financial and operational leadership in attendance Raj Srivastava
Today we brainstormed around defining success regarding proactive care and at-risk for Intermountain Health A group of Proactive Care Workshop members will focus on this topic as a special project, reporting back at the conclusion of the workshop this Fall. Raj Srivastava
Today we focused on choosing corrective actions with a robust discussion about brainstorming and creative thinking for generating change ideas in QI, followed by a group PICK chart activity to help determine which corrective actions might have the biggest payoff Raj Srivastava

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend, colleague and esteemed ATP faculty member, Ian Howells. He was a joy to work with and touched many lives during his time at Intermountain. We’re sending our love and thoughts to his family. Raj Srivastava
