Our new BJGP Open Journal paper exploring patient understanding / experience of shingles finds many had limited understanding before diagnosis and were unprepared for their symptoms. Highlighting stress as a trigger led some people to blame themselves for onset. bit.ly/40iwSrM

Our paper about the lived experience of shingles is out. We found that for some people, linking it with 'low mood' or poor mental health was stigmatising, and resulted in shame and self-blame. Generally people don't know how debilitating shingles can be until they experience it.
