I spent time in Delhi HC a few years ago, and had a list of 'courtisms' with note to self to never use in or out of court. E.g. :'What has fallen from your lordships', 'Last hearing, I was on my legs', 'My learned friend' (said with utter disdain for learning and friendship!)

In our April 2024 issue: Read Riccardo VECELLIO SEGATE’s article on the precedential value of judicial decisions in China’s hybridised civil law system here: cambridge.org/core/journals/… (Open Access)

I am one of the I-CONnect columnists for 2024. In my first column, The Role of a Judge in an Electoral Autocracy, I write about the role that courts can play in preventing autocratic entrenchment, with a specific focus on non-constitutional cases. Do give it a read!

An enduring image that was super meaningful this morning. A leader of the opposition (that worked beautifully together) holding the Indian Constitution. At least a sense of relief after a very long time…

The first great threat to Civil Liberties are the three new criminal laws scheduled to kick in on 1st July. They must be put on hold as a condition of support to any new government. Maybe Sidharth Luthra can suggest to N Chandrababu Naidu or Kapil Sibal lead the SCBA into a movement.
