I’ve been howling about this vis-a-vis Napier’s offenses for 4 years. QB runs, designed or otherwise, remain a cheat code, especially in the 2-high defense era. I think Kiffin has understood that as well as anyone, which is why he stuck with Chambliss over Simmons.

History has taught us that coaching searches, more than anything else, are about fit. Florida and Kiffin remain an all-time great fit. Just gotta hope both sides ultimately see it the same way.

Yep. UF boosters/admin waited patiently to see whether Napier could turn things around his way. They ultimately gave him every resource he asked for. And when he was fired the fan consensus was “Good guy, was pulling for him, but UF can do better.” Seems kinda reasonable to me.

You are going to hear a lot of national sports media promote the idea that LSU is a meaningfully better job than UF. Don’t buy that noise. The reality is the jobs are virtually identical — and which a coach may pick will depend on fit and personal preference:

So nice to see this staff finally lean into the QB run game a bit. Lag isn’t Cam, so it’s not going to always work, but it’s such a useful tool and we’ve neglected it for so long.

A couple nice offensive adjustments today — less pre-snap motion + QB run game. But the school that once pioneered the modern CFB passing game still has zero semblance of an arial attack. A pox on our house. The Football Gods owe us a QB guru and an elite playcaller.

We sold half the batch of the MBYS towels within the first 24 hours. 👀 The wife and kids are on the verge of unionizing, but management believes it has the situation under control. Keep ‘em coming Gators…

Perimeter scoring might be a bit up and down this year (Urban and Lloyd could be pretty crucial there). But defense and rebounding *should* be the calling cards. Gotta get back to that and hope Arizona’s insane efficiency comes back down to earth.

Super early. But kinda feels obvious already that two major story lines will determine what the ceiling is for this UF basketball team: 1. Can they find enough perimeter shooting? 2. Will Michael Jordan defeat the Monstars in time to give Condo his powers back?

If you’re looking for some positives from last night: - Lee’s offensive game can absolutely translate to this level. - Haugh is an SEC POY candidate. - CI is Casey Prather athletic (will take time). - Lost by a hair to a Top ~8 team with nadir performances from Fland/Condo.

One more 🏀 take… Gotta believe Alex Lloyd, and his ability to score, could become an important bench component for this team. I suspect the coaches didn’t want to throw him in a game that physical that early, but think he’s a guy that’s going to matter for this team soon-ish.

A lot of ink being spilled to argue that P4 HC jobs have equalized, & that current HCs are unlikely to bolt for “top” jobs. But until proven otherwise HS recruiting remains the lifeblood for winning titles, & those ranks are still being dominated by the same ~15 schools.
