Sad news. Jerry Bostick, one of the greats of Apollo-era Mission Control has passed away. He was enormously helpful to our Mission Control film. A warm and generous soul and a great American. Love and blessings to his family and friends.

This Christmas, the team at SEE is taking time to power down, recharge our systems, and reflect on a year of exciting work and collaboration. Thank you to everyone who helped keep our mission on course. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and clear skies in the year ahead! ✨

This really is an enormous gift to astronomy. Also, if Schmidt's team succeeds in building a Hubble replacement for hundreds of millions of dollars in a few years, it will completely change space science (for the better). arstechnica.com/space/2026/01/…

Great news for exploration: Schmidt Sciences is funding the Lazuli space telescope, bigger than Hubble, including a coronagraph to separate the light of a planet from its nearby star. Schmidt is also supporting 3 innovative ground-based astronomy arrays. arstechnica.com/space/2026/01/…

Monte-Carlo simulation of asteroid 2024YR4 showing the 4.1% chance of hitting the Moon on Dec 22, 2032. Note that the Moon is close to the middle of the blue distribution. So if JWST manages to observe YR4 next month, there is a good chance the blue region shrinks implying an

Kilauea Message 2026-01-12 09:00:40 HST. North vent fountains are now 330 feet high (100 meters) and growing. Fountains are feeding a large flow on the crater floor. The gas plume is rising vertically but part of it is moving due west at about 5000 feet above ground level.

You're right, Amy. I will add the footnote I always add when commenting on the film: Gene Kranz was an authentic hero on Apollo 13 and his role is accurately portrayed. What the film didn't cover was that Gene's White Team left Mission Control an hour after the accident, and

Our proudest accolade came when Gene Kranz said publicly that Apollo "was the finest book ever written about the manned spaceflight program." Of course, that was before Gene published his own book.

Thanks Ashlee Vance! As John from Parkes Observatory once said, "E.T wants to phone home!" Can't wait to show you all the ins and outs of this mission, and also the crazy things our team has been cooking...

It’s great to see private initiatives investing in fundamental science, like Schmidt Sciences with its ambitious new Lazuli space telescope. Exploration and understanding of our Universe is a mission all of humanity can be part of. science.org/content/articl…

Love is in the air… and in cislunar space. 💘🚀 For this Valentine’s Day, we challenged our team members to come up with a heart-shaped trajectory – and they did not disappoint! We are over the Moon for these romantic trajectories, and we think you will be too. If you’d like

Tomorrow the NASA JWST will observe asteroid 2024YR4 in an attempt to refine its orbit (and again on Feb 26). Reminder there is a 4.1% chance this asteroid will hit the Moon on Dec.22, 2032. We should have an updated impact probability estimate soon.
