Last minute practice for my #AbSciCon24 talk this Eastcoast morning/European afternoon. Sad to not meeting anyone in person (again!) but at least I got a view...

This was hands down the best AbSciCon I've ever attended. I made so many wonderful new connections and I'm feeling so grateful for this community. I know I am at home with #Astrobiology. Now, this introvert needs some well deserved rest. #AbSciCon24

Redid this pic from four years ago when I finished my sleeve. Ink is still solid and now my leg sleeve is half done. 🙌🏻 #scientistswithtattoos

This collaboration literally started on Twitter, and that's why I'll probably never delete this app. Check out the paper, led by Tomislav Stolar. This is an experimental and theoretical work on the photochemistry of based-paired nucleobases. So fun to work with Tomi and Luca!

Ben K. D. Pearce, PhD Networking doesn't always need conferences or physical meetings. You can simply reach out to scientists with whom you want to collaborate on social media. Give it a try folks! In our case, we had similar interests and career stages, although Ben is now already an assist. Prof! 👏🏼

Hey lab people: I'm designing my lab countertop, floor tile, cabinet, and wall colors. Any photos of your labs would be really appreciated for inspiration. 🙏🏻 I'm straying away from traditional black countertops.

My going away gift from Dr./Prof. Sarah Hörst is so amazing! My research hand-painted on pottery by Amy Rae Hill. I love it! Working in the The Hörst Lab these past three years has been incredible and really important to me. Thank you Sarah for the gift and for being a stellar postdoc advisor.

What an incredible cohort of PhD students joining my lab this year. I'm grateful for all of them and can't wait to see all the great research we get up to. benkdpearce.com/research-group #astrobiology #Purdue #NewPI

The hardest part of doing anything is overcoming the activation barrier of getting started. The more time a task requires to complete, the higher the barrier. One way to overcome the barrier is to schedule a small amount of time daily towards completing the task. #Academiclife

Since I started blocking off an hour for proposal writing every morning, and I have an accountability partner I have to check in with daily (thanks Roger Bryant), I've done 13 and a half hours of writing in about a month! This strategy really works!! #newPI #academiclife

in 1620, it was thought that you could spontaneously make mice by putting your dirty underwear in an open jar and sprinkling some wheat on it. Source: Jan Baptista van Helmont (1580–1644)
