Voluntarily surrendered to Licinius and beheaded by sword. ‘We know Andrew through his Twitter energies but we've not encountered his essence in real life.’

Adam West Batman would correctly deduce that since they are all Batman, then they must all be Bruce Wayne, so he would pull out his giant projector and play a video of their parents dying and stunlock the rest of them, allowing him the easy victory

One of my favorite Paul Graham quotes: "I never said that. Why do you make up this stuff when it's so easy to find actual quotes?"

What’s fascinating about this is that 1) it was in the context of children, not adults, and 2) it has no limiting principle. Within bounds this is either approximately true or true. But as an unlimited principle it is just heresy.

I cant think of a better way to turn kids into right wing extremists than telling them they have to help the less fortunate, forcing them into it, and them discovering that a lot of the less fortunate just dont care about school, and hate them for being part of the school system

Andrew Stratelates ⚓️(Continuing Anglican) I am smart & talented. My primary purpose in life is the worship of the creator of the universe. Joe probably doesn't believe in God, so he has to invent his own religion to fill in the gaps. And this is what evil looks like.

There is a linguistic register which could be called the perennial register, used for an audience in the far future. It is the register of monuments, time capsules, nuclear waste warnings, and guidestones.

The answer is you have curate your own tuning. Actually, I wonder if there’s enough investment appetite to make a constitutional AI following natural law principles.

What’s weirdly fascinating about being ‘civilized’ is that if you look at the cultures through space and time that consider themselves ‘civilized’, they both share the markers of refinement and the same definition. Primarily urbanism, literacy and law.

I was once seated with a problem kid under a similar thought. Eventually I got fed up with him and punched him as hard as I could in the solar plexus, knocking his breath out. I was moved.

imo if you're going to have kids help other kids in school you should have older kids help younger ones and not do strict age siloing bc forcing this kind of relationship between age peers of wildly different capacities just breeds resentment, exploitation, etc

basically if you want to enforce some kind of virtue it is good for there to be some kind of status gain or just an intrinsic sort of status dynamic along some unrelated axis, for the person who is doing the virtuous behavior "status bc older" is way more natural
