Do animals care about fairness? Our new meta-analysis suggests they don't: "Are Nonhuman Animals Inequity Averse? A Meta-Analysis", w\ @cvoelter, Prof Nichola Raihani, and Jan Engelmann, out now as a pre-print: psyarxiv.com/86vkf/ 1/11

Our book came out today 🥳 In 'What Are Zoos For?' we examine the common justifications for zoos and argue that zoos are (or should be) for animals, placing animal welfare at the centre of their operations. So pleased to finally see this paper in print. In what we think is one of the largest meta-analyses of animal behaviour, we find no evidence for inequity aversion in nonhumans (in accept/reject paradigms). Led by Oded Ritov & with Jan Engelmann & Christoph Völter. 👇

Excited to share that our Behav. Brain. Sci. target article — "Children as agents of cultural adaptation" — is online & open for commentary! In it, sheina lew-levy & I argue that children's peer cultures play an important & understudied role in cultural adaptation. cambridge.org/core/journals/…

This is from when Jane Goodall came to Turkey last year (for the first time). She is speaking at an event organized by Roots & Shoots TR ( a special thanks to Aslıhan Niksarlı). I missed it and I wish I could be there to meet and listen to her in person🦧🦍🙈Dr. Jane Goodall & the Jane Goodall Institute

The loss of a legend- Kanzi, the language-competent bonobo, has died age 44. Kanzi was exceptional in so many ways and offered us profound insights into the linguistic & cognitive capacities of great apes. He has taught us so much and will be hugely missed. Ape Cognition and Conservation Initiative

We have lost a legend. Yesterday morning, I received the devastating news that Kanzi, the world’s most famous bonobo, died unexpectedly the day before, in the company of his bonobo family Ape Cognition and Conservation Initiative. I've written here about this tremendous loss. We will miss him dearly.
