Our collective focus is to bring an END to Legislated POVERTY of disabled citizens in B.C. by getting the Provincial government to provide monthly disability income support EQUAL to the official poverty level of Canada - MBM (market basket measure) or LICO (Low income cut off).

74% of PWD in B.C. do NOT have access to subsidized housing so are left to be homeless, live in unsafe/deplorable conditions or pay market rent and have nothing left each month for any other expenses.

We will be having local disability advocates, politicians and persons with disabilities living in government-imposed poverty speaking before we open the event up with music, a postcard campaign directed at the Premier of B.C. and, of course, CAKE. "Let Them Eat Cake!"

DWP welcomes today’s announcement by the Ontario government confirming that the new CDB will not be clawed back from ODSP recipients. This critical decision ensures that the CDB will reach low-income Ontarians with disabilities as intended - without being reduced by the province.
